Info for Students, Mentors, and Volunteers
Students, Mentors, and Volunteers,
ClassWish, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit is the only organization that lets anybody contribute to fund any type of resource (STEM, art, music, sports, books, etc.) for any K-12 school or teacher in the country. (Yes, you should tell teachers and parents about it!).
We are huge fans of FIRST and learned from Dean Kamen about the challenge teams face in raising money to cover all their expenses. Accordingly, we were eager to help. We spent a tremendous amount of time speaking with people at FIRST, with teams, sponsors, and others to understand the teams' complex needs and how we could provide just the right solution.
We are delighted to be getting great feedback, but we always want to make our platform even better, so please drop us a line if you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas: FIRST [AT] ClassWish [DOT] org
Advantages of Fundraising on ClassWish
Do take a moment to peruse the page describing the advantages of the ClassWish fundraising pages, such as this sample FIRST team fundraising page.
Reasons for Students, Mentors, and Volunteers to Appear on Your Team's Fundraising Page
We encourage students, mentors, and volunteers to appear on their team pages. This has several benefits:
- you get recognition for your dedication and work--on the team page and on your own page of ClassWish, such as this sample profile page
- you will be more engaged in the team's fundraising process, which is an essential component to every team's success
- people who know and recognize you and your teammates will be more likely to contribute
- even visitors who do not personally know any of the members are more likely to donate when they see the faces of the students, mentors, and volunteers (after all, people respond to people)
- your team can allow and track contributions to fund travel for particular team members (to see this, just click the name or photo of any of the members on the sample page)
- your team can provide recognition for fundraising efforts by letting contributors indicate who should get recognition for their donation
People Can Generate Donations at No Cost to Them
Be sure to see the ways anyone can generate donations to support your team at no cost to them. One especially easy way to generate donations is by inviting teachers to create their own wish lists on ClassWish.org.
